World Environment Day: A workshop related to the Climate Change

The Bar Associations of Rethymno and Chania chose to honor the World Environment Day with an open workshop entitled "From the global climate change to the local uncontrolled structuring: the environmental problem at global and local level. What can we do?” which was held on June 9th, 2017 at the Rethymnon Chamber of Commerce.

In the frame of the workshop the climate change and its impacts in Crete, as well as legislative and practical steps for its tackling were discussed. Moreover, results from a survey related to the environmental delinquency at local level were presented, while the role of the local media and NGO in the tackling of the environmental reduction was further highlighted.

The Institute for Olive Tree, Subtropical Plants and Viticulture, as partner of the LIFE AgroClimaWater project participated in the workshop and presented the Good Agricultural Practices for the adaptation of the climate change as protection measures that can be adopted by the farmers in order to protect their cultivations and as a consequence the environment.

Representatives from the two Bar Associations of Chania and Rethymno, the Technical University of Crete, the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki etc. attended the workshop.
